Blues Hill Park project
History
The antecedents of the project included concerts, motor shows and the 1st and 2nd American Car and Rock Festival of Eger, all self-organized and supported by the town of Eger. The festivals also gave us a good opportunity to survey the demand for cult festivals in Eger and the surrounding region. Accordingly, the first festival was planned to be a "medium size" event, but it was a huge success nevertheless. As to the concerts, the quality of the performers matched those appearing at major Hungarian festivals. We had 1800 visitors a day, and 150 American-made cars accompanied by a "crew" of 400 car fanatics spent a period of 3 days in Eger.
The concept of the Blues Hill Project was conceived gradually: the initial idea was to find a place for our American Car Festival next year. Since our slogan is that if we do something, we shall do it professionally (an attitude also praised by the participants of the festival in 2005), we soon started to consider a more significant development, eventually resulting in the idea to establish a permanent park.
The Blues Hill Project will greatly assist the town of Eger and the village of Felsőtárkány in a competition that has been taking shape in recent years (in order to increase the number of guest nights the towns support large-scale, 3-5-day festivals). Consider, for example, the Tokaj Hegyalja Festival (30 thousand guests), Volt Festival in Sopron (40 thousand guests), the newer ones, for example, Kasza Napok Rock Festival in Kazincbarcika (10 thousand guests), or the Music Festival in Veszprém and the Gastro-Blues Festival in Paks (exact attendance figures not available for the latter two).
